Our Legacy, Our Passion
1895
Founded as Eureka! Tent & Awning Company in Binghamton, NY. We designed and sewed house and store awnings, Conestoga wagon covers, horse blankets, American flags and tents.
1930s
The production of our custom canvas products continued to increase locally.
1940s – 1960s
During World War II, Eureka manufactured hundreds of hospital ward tents. The post-war housing shortage caused by returning GIs led to many individuals purchasing mobile homes and trailer awnings. Eureka! Also, expanded into camping with the launch of its Draw-Tite tent.
1963
Over 60 Eureka! tents were used to shelter climbers during the first all-American Mount Everest expedition. The tents withstood winds up to 60mph and temperatures of -20 degrees F.
1965 – 1970
In 1965, Eureka moved to its current location at 625 Conklin Rd in Binghamton, NY. During the 1970s, for families and backpackers, it was a time to “get back to nature.” We launched the Timberline, the first self-supporting, lightweight camping tent in 1973.
1980s
Our campaign, “The Life of the Party” was the first to market the idea of backyard party canopy rentals to rental companies across the U.S for BBQs, birthday parties, social gatherings and more.
1986
Eureka! received the IFAI Outstanding Achievement Award for the Genesis tent, in the “Party Commercial and Fair Tent Manufacturing” category.
1988
Eureka! was honored with IFAI Outstanding Achievement Award for the Elite Canopy, in the “Party, Commercial and Fair Tent Manufacturing” category.
1995
Eureka! won the IFAI Outstanding Achievement Award in the “Rental Tent Manufacturing” category for the Capri tent.
2004
Through the launch of the Evolution WR, Eureka! took the tension tent design from Genesis and perfected it through modern engineering and computerized patterns.
2008
We launched the E!Span, offering a simpler choice for customers in the industry’s line of clear span products.
2014
We introduced the X2, a lightweight, Keder frame tent that is a hybrid by design, allowing our customers to mix and match parts with other frame system tents.
2019
Eureka! launches the Revolution, the first tent with a canopy design that incorporated 15-foot side pole spacing.
2023
Johnson Outdoors sold Eureka! Big Tents Division (commercial and military) to new owners. Under new leadership, Eureka! Party Tents became InTENTional Systems.
2024
We brought the LUMA top to market, an inTENTional exclusive. Our premium LUMA fabric brought a light, airy ambiance to our party tents.
2025
InTENTional continues to carry on the Eureka! legacy as the best tent makers in America. It is our passion to provide high quality, American-made tents to our tent and event rental partners.
